Ladd and I had a wonderful Hawaiian Honeymoon. We spent 5 nights in Maui and 2 nights in Waikiki. We flew straight from Vegas to Maui. When we arrived, we rented our Jeep Wrangler, took the top down, and enjoyed the sunset along the drive to beautiful Kaanapali Beach. When we arrived at the Sheraton Maui, we checked into our room and we were starving! It had been a long day of traveling so we were not up for much. We walked down to the nearby Whaler's Village which was a cool area with restaurants and shopping.
The whole trip was extremely relaxing and we spent quite a bit of time getting some sun either by the pool or on the beach. Here's a pic of one of the dancers by the pool during sunset that I thought was pretty.
We took a sunset whale watch ride on an 18 person raft. It was fun to be on a small raft so that way we could get around the water faster and have a better view of the whales. Thankfully we did not get sick. We did see quite a few whales and got to listen to them sing too. They dropped a microphone in the water and you could hear them "talking" to each other. We spent one full day on the Road to Hana. Which is essentially a drive around the entire island of Maui. It is a very narrow stretch of highway that includes passing over almost 60 bridges, some of which are one lane. There are beaches and parks and lots of history along the way. Beautiful scenery and we took lots of camera footage. Best footage was me complaining on the way home that we survived the trip and we were finally on the way back to the hotel!
On our last night in Maui we went and checked out a luau. Back on our first day I had my haircut because I had grown it out for the wedding and just needed to chop it off! I asked the hair stylist for any tips for my trip and she made a great suggestion. There was a fabulous cafe that was right next to the best luau in Maui and you could go and eat at the cafe for much cheaper than the luau and much better food but still get to see all of the show. It was great - there were barely any people at the cafe so we had a great seat. Here's us at the cafe after the luau ended.
On the morning of our last day in Maui we scheduled a beach photo shoot. We never did engagement photos so we thought it was great for someone to document our honeymoon with professional photos. We ended up with over 60 great photos and here are a few of our faves.
Now Waikiki was way different than Maui. It was much more hustle and bustle and tons of shopping. We stayed at the Sheraton Waikiki Beach which also happened to be where the SMU football team was staying for their bowl game, which was so random. We went to a nice dinner our last night here at a restaurant owned by a guy that was on Top Chef.
On our last day in Hawaii we spent the day at Pearl Harbor. Ladd loves history and he was pretty excited about this.
And that was our fabulous honeymoon. We had a blast in Vegas and Hawaii, but after traveling that much we were excited to be home and to be with Franklin. Now that I've caught you up on the beginning of the Williams Family story, we are ready to start some more current blogs. We look forward to keep you posted on our lives so stay tuned!
